Everyone dreams of a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower — and I’ll always make sure you get that shot too! But if you want your Paris photos to stand out from the postcard version everyone else has, it’s worth stepping just a little off the beaten path.
Over the years, I’ve taken hundreds of travelers, couples, and families to spots most tourists never think to visit. These are the places that make people stop scrolling on Instagram and ask, “wait, where is that?”
Here are five of my favorite unusual locations for a photoshoot in Paris.
1. The Paris Metro
It might sound like an odd choice at first, but the Paris Metro is one of the most photogenic — and most underrated — spots in the city. Some stations, like Arts et Métiers with its steampunk copper interior, or Palais Royal–Musée du Louvre with its glass and sequin décor, feel like film sets. Even a “regular” station, with its green Art Nouveau signage and vintage tiled corridors, gives your photos an authentically Parisian, cinematic feel that you simply won’t get anywhere else.
It’s also a great way to experience the city the way locals actually do — hopping between arrondissements, catching candid, in-motion shots along the way.
2. Pont des Arts
This pedestrian bridge crossing the Seine, just next to the Louvre, offers one of the most romantic panoramas in Paris: the Institut de France on one side, the Seine winding toward Notre-Dame on the other. The light here, especially at sunrise or golden hour, is simply stunning, and the bridge’s ironwork and wooden slats add texture and depth to every frame. It’s a favorite for couple shoots for a reason — but there’s still plenty of room to make it your own.
3. Playground Duperré (Pigalle)
For a completely different vibe, I love bringing clients to Playground Duperré, a colorful basketball court tucked into a courtyard in Pigalle, painted by the street artist Kongo. With its bold blue, red, and yellow geometric patterns, it’s a total contrast to the classic Haussmannian Paris everyone expects — perfect for anyone who wants energetic, graphic, editorial-style photos, whether you’re a solo traveler, a group of friends, or just looking for something bold and unexpected.
4. Parisian Cafés
Some of my favorite candid photos happen at a small marble table, coffee in hand, watching the world go by — because that’s real Parisian life. A café terrace on a cobblestoned street gives you warm, natural, storytelling images that feel lived-in rather than staged. Whether it’s a quiet neighborhood spot in the Marais or a classic brasserie with red rattan chairs, cafés capture the “slow morning in Paris” feeling that so many travelers are chasing.
5. The Parks of Paris
When people think of Parisian parks, they usually picture the Jardin du Luxembourg or the Tuileries — and both are gorgeous. But Paris has dozens of green spaces with their own personality: the wild, English-style Buttes-Chaumont, the Parc Monceau with its follies and columns, the quiet, romantic corners of the Jardin des Plantes or even, outside of Paris, the elegant Parc de Sceaux. Parks give us space to play with natural light through the trees, candid walking shots, and a softer, more relaxed atmosphere — ideal for families and couples alike.
