Paris is often called the most photogenic city in the world, and honestly, it’s hard to disagree. Every bridge, every façade, every tree-lined street seems to have been designed with a camera in mind. But with so many beautiful corners to choose from, picking the right locations for your photoshoot can feel overwhelming.
After years of shooting couples, families, and solo travelers all over the city, I’ve put together my personal list of the best photo spots in Paris — the ones that consistently deliver stunning, timeless images no matter the season or time of day.
1. Esplanade du Trocadéro
If there’s one view that defines Paris, it’s this one. The Trocadéro esplanade sits directly across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower, offering the most iconic, postcard-perfect angle of the monument in the entire city. It’s especially magical at sunrise, when the crowds are thin and the golden light hits the tower just right — or in the evening, when the tower begins to sparkle on the hour.
Best for: couples, engagement shoots, first Paris trip photos Tip: arrive early — this spot gets crowded fast, and soft morning light makes all the difference in your photos.
2. Pont de Bir-Hakeim
A favorite among photographers and filmmakers alike (you might recognize it from Inception), Bir-Hakeim is a two-level iron bridge with a stunning tree-lined pedestrian walkway on top. From here, you get a beautiful side view of the Eiffel Tower framed by ironwork and greenery — completely different from the classic Trocadéro shot.
Best for: editorial-style portraits, dramatic couple photos, proposal Tip: the light filtering through the ironwork creates gorgeous shadows in the late afternoon.
3. Pont Alexandre III
Widely considered the most elegant bridge in Paris, Pont Alexandre III is dripping with Belle Époque details — gilded statues, ornate lamp posts, and sweeping views toward Les Invalides. It has a romantic, almost fairy-tale quality that makes it a favorite for engagement and proposal photoshoots.
Best for: elegant portraits Tip: the golden statues catch beautiful light, adding a warm glow to every shot.
4. The Louvre
Beyond being one of the world’s great museums, the Louvre courtyard is home to I.M. Pei’s glass pyramid — a striking contrast of modern architecture against the historic palace. The symmetry of the courtyard makes for powerful, graphic compositions, whether you’re shooting close to the pyramid or from a distance with the full palace wings in frame.
Best for: solo travelers, bold architectural portraits, family photos Tip: early morning offers the best light and far fewer tourists crossing your frame.
5. Palais-Royal
Tucked away just behind the Louvre, the Palais-Royal is one of Paris’s best-kept secrets. Its elegant colonnaded courtyard and the black-and-white striped columns of Daniel Buren’s art installation create an incredibly fun, graphic backdrop that photographs beautifully — and it’s usually far quieter than the more famous landmarks nearby.
Best for: playful portraits, creative and fashion-inspired shoots Tip: the striped columns are perfect for adding movement and color to your photos — bring a bold outfit!
6. Montmartre
Perched on Paris’s highest hill, Montmartre feels like its own little village — cobblestone streets, ivy-covered cafés, and the dazzling white dome of Sacré-Cœur watching over it all. Beyond the basilica itself, the winding streets around Place du Tertre and Rue de l’Abreuvoir offer some of the most charming, romantic backdrops in the city.
Best for: couples, honeymoon shoots, anyone wanting a fairy-tale Parisian feel Tip: visit early morning to have the streets to yourselves before the artists and crowds arrive.
7. Le Marais
For a more authentic, lived-in Paris, Le Marais delivers in every direction. Narrow medieval streets, historic hôtels particuliers, hidden courtyards, and some of the best light in the city make this neighborhood endlessly photogenic — and it feels wonderfully candid compared to the busier tourist landmarks.
Best for: lifestyle and candid-style photoshoots, families, friend groups Tip: perfect for warm, natural portraits.
